All About Jackie

I have often thought about writing a book. I have often been told I should write a book. Each time I have experienced something that has deeply affected my life, I think about how I would write the introductory line. Because there have been so many (as we all have), I wonder which one should I start with? Instead, for now, I have decided to write a blog and maybe some of those introductory lines will find their way on here but I don't want to scare anyone away in my introduction with too much drama and trauma, so lets start with my new and exciting adventure that began back in 2015.

I have been a dental hygienist for over thirty years and despite how experienced and good I am at what I do, I have never enjoyed it. I love talking with people, not at people, and with sharp instruments in someones mouth and not enough time to get what I need to get done during an appointment, it just isn't possible to have much of a two way conversation. Being a hygienist is intense work with barely enough time to hit the restroom or even have lunch. I also start way too early in the morning and I am not a get up at 5 am kinda girl, but I do. I have never gotten use to that no matter how many years I've worked! The problem is there hasn't been a job that has the convenience of work days and pay. I always opt for working less days for more pay and ability to do what I want on the days I don't work. In other words I can make in two days at my dental hygiene job what would take a week at something else that I might love. That is, until 2015 when I learned that I could have my own business doing laser skincare and hair removal. MY OWN BUSINESS - MY OWN HOURS - and I could make as much if not more doing something I really am interested in. A job that I won't have to get up at 5 am, where I can set my own schedule, and have a two way conversation with my clients. So began my journey that led to Fit Skin Laser.
So here I am at 55 about to Really launch my business. Those that know me know what that Really means. I must say I am a better clinician than business woman but I am learning and I hope you will also learn along with me as I share this exciting and positive venture that is absolutely not easy but one that I welcome the challenge of and look forward to really getting things going.
I just want to say how grateful I am to my family and friends and all their support. It does help to have a cheering section! I am looking forward to spending time with you as well as helping your skin look and feel its healthiest. On my website I wrote a quote I found that says,
"Beauty is being comfortable in your own skin"
I liked this quote because it seems perfect for this profession. We all want to age gracefully and find the fountain of youth but we have to learn to love who we are first and that love and beauty on the inside will radiate to the outside. I hope to enhance both the inside and the outside, in not just treating, but also in connecting with you. There is so much to learn from others and I look forward to learning a lot.
