All About Jackie

I’ve often thought about writing a book — and I’ve been told more than once that I should. Each time something deeply impacts my life, I find myself imagining how I’d write the opening line. There have been many moments like that (as we all have), and sometimes I wonder which story I’d begin with.

For now, though, I’ve decided to start with a blog. Maybe a few of those “opening lines” will make their way here over time. But I’ll save the drama and the hard lessons for later — and instead, begin with my new and exciting adventure that started back in 2015.

After more than three decades as a dental hygienist, I’ve come to recognize that even doing something well doesn’t always mean it fulfills you. My passion has always extended beyond the dental chair — toward helping people feel confident, radiant, and whole. I’ve always loved talking with people, not at them — but in dental hygiene, that’s tough to do with sharp instruments in someone’s mouth and only a short time to get everything done. Being a hygienist is demanding work, often without enough time for even a quick lunch break. And while I’ve spent years waking up at 5 a.m., I’ll admit — I’ve never quite gotten used to it!

The truth is, dental hygiene offered great flexibility and pay, which made it hard to leave. I could work just a couple of days a week and still have time for the things I loved. But deep down, I wanted something that inspired me — something creative and personally fulfilling.

In 2015, I discovered that I could have exactly that: my own business in laser skincare and hair removal. My own hours. My own clients. My own creative space. A career where I could connect, have real conversations, and help people feel confident in their skin. That’s how Fit Skin Laser began — from a lifelong passion for people and a desire to create beauty, balance, and connection in a more meaningful way.

So at the age of 55 I am launching my new business and will embrace this new chapter with open arms. Those who know me understand what a real leap this has been. I’ve always been a better clinician than a businesswoman, but I’m learning every day — and I invite you to grow and learn along with me. This journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s one I’m genuinely excited about and deeply committed to.

I’m endlessly grateful to my family, friends, and everyone who has supported me along the way. Having a cheering section truly makes a difference. I’m looking forward to spending time with you — not only helping your skin look and feel its healthiest, but also supporting your overall well-being through education, treatment, and genuine care.

On my website, I included one of my favorite quotes:

“Beauty is being comfortable in your own skin.”

To me, that couldn’t be more true. We all want to age gracefully and chase that fountain of youth, but it starts with self-acceptance and nurturing our health from the inside out. When we love who we are and take care of ourselves, that vitality naturally radiates outward. My hope with Fit Skin Laser is to enhance both — helping you look refreshed, feel balanced, and thrive in your healthiest, most confident self.
